St. Elmo Church of Christ

I notice a story last week about a pilotless airplane which has recently stayed in the air for seven consecutive days. The overly excited project engineer announced, “What we have here is the eternal plane!” I thought he and I have far different ideas of eternity. Seven days is not even a small step into eternity, but this is one giant leap out of reality. I know what he meant to communicate, but he left us with another example of man’s overestimation of himself. I’m glad for progress, but I’m also aware of a need for perspective. –JTS
