The elders of the St. Elmo congregation are men that have met biblical qulifications (1 Timothy 3, Titus 1) and that lead in a servant position. These men spend much time and energy shepherding the flock here with their prayers, study, guidance, and example. They make sure that the pure Word of God is fed to the flock in worship and Bible classes. They are constantly seeking to lead us in “A love for people and a legacy for Christ.” We are blessed to be a part of this family here and blessed to be in the oversight of these fine Christian men.
Rodger and Jean Dinger have worshipped with the St. Elmo congregation for 35 years. Rodger appreciates the St. Elmo congregation because everybody loves everybody and the truth is always taught. His vision for St. Elmo is that it will continue to grow. In Rodger’s spare time he enjoys fishing and gardening. His favorite Bible verse is Isa. 53:4-5, because it tells us what Jesus was going to do for us.
Wayne Locke moved to Chattanooga and began worshipping with the St. Elmo congregation when he married his wife, Sandra, 50 years ago. Ever since then he has loved the congregation here and appreciates it for its constant fellowship. He hopes to see the St. Elmo congregation increase in faith, goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, kindness and brotherly love. Wayne’s favorite thing to do is spend time with his family. His favorite Bible verse is Mark 9:7, “This is my son in whom I am well pleased, listen to Him!” This is from God to us about Jesus and the Truth.
Vernon and his wife Annick have been worshipping with St. Elmo for 46 years. Vernon loves that the St. Elmo congregation is a faithful group of the Lord’s people that are friendly, loving, caring generous and close knit. Vernon hopes that the Lord will bless the work here by helping the congregation grow stronger both in the faith and in developing ways to grow the church in this community. In their spare time Vernon and Annick enjoy traveling. Vernon’s favorite verse is John 3:16 because the verse makes him realize how much God loves us and had he Not sent his son to die for us we would be hopelessly lost.
David and Pat Woods began worshipping with the St. Elmo congregation in 1964. David sees the St. Elmo congregation as one of love. The congregation has a close love for one another, for others, for Christ and a love for the Word of God. David hopes that the congregation will continue to reach out to the St. Elmo community more and grow. In his spare time, David enjoys gardening and being with family. John 3:16 is David’s favorite verse for it shows the power of love and how it controls our action towards others. God’s love and sacrifice for us was so we might have Eternal Happiness. If we show love to one another then surely our lives on earth will be much happier.
